Climbing Eponentially on the Kealia Trail

Photos from my first run on Oahu, North Shore on the Kealia Trail.  This is definitely one of my favorite routes on Oahu.  Both times I have run this trail, I have turned around before reaching the end of it. It appears to continue on exponentially.  For every intersection, there is another choice that has to be made and there are many choices!  I plan to explore the trail more in the coming days. Part of the challenge is that the trail climbs like a rocky, rooty elevator for a few miles, then pops you out on a smooth clay-mud one-car-wide trail that undulates like a roller coaster gradually sending you to the top of the ridge. From the ridge, you can choose the right path or the left path. I took the right path (of course) and ran along the ridges with views of the ocean in 180 degrees. A really nice way to start my trip.  I'll be staying on the North Shore for a week, then heading south to Honolulu for the last 6 days.

I love finding exotic fruit on the trail!! I think this is a passion fruit. Either way, it was delicious!

The Salomon Speedcross 3 performed really well on the wet/clay trail, as well as the loose needle and rocky sections.
