The La'ie Trail above the town of La'ie is a go-to trail when I'm staying at the Malaekahana Beach. It is just down the road and offers 12 miles of trails. Today I ran to the waterfall, an 8 mile route with lots of sticky mud and a few miles of running through tunnels of strawberry guava. Yum. The last 1/4 mile to the waterfall is more of a rocky slip and slide down a 70 degree embankment. There are plenty of strawberry guava to hang on to though and I was able to lower myself step by step to the two tiered falls.
A little stretching break & some scenic photos of the trail!

Just before you get to the falls, there's a sign pointing you to the right. To the left is the Summit, another 2.5 miles up. |

The Falls were at the bottom of a very rocky and steep (some would say treacherous) trail. You can't see it from the picture, but there is a waterfall above these falls too. |
